SOUS CHEF & MARIO PRESENT
“THE ART LIFE”
Antoine Martel (sous chef) and I have been friends since arriving to Seattle though a friend of mine Hannah Trivilino told me in 2019 that I’d meet her friends in Seattle. I believed her but did not pay much mind to it and then afterall, Antoine and I have become friends. I had a studio with Base Camp Studios in Belltown which I dubbed “The White Lodge” a spin on David Lynch’s Black Lodge. Alice Bailey and Buddhist texts mentioned this place called the White Lodge a place entered upon love. I created this space to be a haven for people to meet, a living room on 1st Ave in the middle of the city. Sous Chef has been creating “site specific pieces” and suggested we do one in my studio. There a collaboration was born. Before, Antoine also commissioned me to do a mural in his new house that he lived in, so in fact this collaboration was a given.
